The Gathering is just that...a gathering of all Elementary students and catechists once or twice a month at the start of class. This is an opportunity to gather as a large group for additional learning. These little lessons focus on a theme for the year. It allows students to be in the Church and understand the sacredness and importance of Church. They are taught how to enter and how to act reverently. They learn about the "things" that are in church. This year our focus is Jesus. We are growing in our understanding and friendship with Him by getting to know Him better through story telling. We are learning about the stories of Jesus that help us be the best we can be. We are learning about parables. Jesus enjoyed teaching through story telling.
October - We learned about the Rosary. October is the month of the Rosary. ... This is primarily due to the fact that the liturgical feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated annually on October 7. It was instituted to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in gratitude for the protection that she gives the Church in answer to the praying of the Rosary by the faithful.
In addition, we learned about the Parable of the Sower. Students acted out the parable and we discussed the meaning of this Parable. We learned that we should be open to hearing God's word and take opportunities to share Jesus with others through our actions.
